Comfortable Meditation with Props

Meditation is the seventh limb of the Ashtanga Yoga in the Yoga Sutras.
The first step to meditation is said to be "aligning your posture," specifically, correcting the line of your spine. While it's ideal to prepare your body and be able to comfortably hold a meditation posture, if this is difficult, we recommend using props.
Here are some props that can assist your meditation practice.

 

Props to place under your sit bones to create height and help tilt your pelvis forward

 

Meditation Cushion

This yoga cushion stabilizes your pelvis for a more comfortable sitting experience.

 

Cotton Blanket

Spread it out for a comfortable yoga mat, or fold it to create height and better support your sit bones.

 

Recycled Wool Blanket

Fold it thickly and place it under your sit bones.
You can also spread it out on your mat for warmth.
It can also be used as a cover if you feel cold while sitting.

 

Recycled Foam Block

Place it under your sit bones to create height. The second height is recommended.

Preparing for meditation begins with aligning your sitting posture

Regulate your body temperature with a hoodie to prevent getting cold, use props to align your pelvis, lengthen your spine, and stabilize your sitting posture.
Once your sitting posture is aligned, adjust your breathing. Then, set an object of focus. If your mind starts to wander, don't try to control it; instead, observe the movement of your mind and gently return to your chosen object.
